Sun and fun at annual picnic

(August 11, 2008) — Absher's annual company picnic was once again a big success, with Absher staff and family members aplenty attending amid warm sunshine and plenty of food and drink, games and fun. This year's event was held at Puyallup's Bradley Lake Park. Thanks go out to Denise Cox, Aaron Binger, Isaac Lleras, Josh Cypher and Kacey Crow, as well as Brad and Cassie Porcella, Venetta Pearson, Megan Steel and The Cox Family for organizing yet another great get-together. We're just wondering how it'll be topped next year...

Absher selected for major high-school modernization

(July 21, 2008) — Absher Construction Company has been selected to provide GC/CM services to the Seattle Public Schools for the new Nathan Hale High School GC/CM project in north Seattle. The $42M project will include extensive preconstruction services as well as renovation and additions to the occupied school campus. The project was designed by Mahlum Achitects of Seattle; construction is set to begin in July of 2009...

Absher director assumes new role at AGC

(July 1, 2008) — Absher's Director of Safety and Risk Management, David D'Hondt, has accepted the position of Executive Director for the Associated General Contractors of Washington. Dave wrapped-up a very successful 18-year career with Absher, starting out as a carpenter and ending up as the company's director of safety and risk management. Dave has held a number of leadership positions over the years, including serving as the president of the AGC of Washington in 2007. He will be missed, but Dave takes with him the best wishes of all of us here at Absher...

Absher a BCTWF once again

This marks the fifth of the past six years that Absher has been named to the annual list, among more than 400 companies who enter the awards program. Absher to build new business center

(March 3, 2008) —Absher Construction Company has been selected to provide preconstruction and construction services for the new Martin Luther King Business Center in Tacoma. Located on Martin Luther King Jr. Way, the Center will be a mixed-use structure consisting of approximately 100,000 s.f. of retail and office space, 50 to 60 market-rate apartments and a 350-space parking garage. The project is owned by the Martin Luther King Housing Development Association, a community-based organization which provides affordable housing, emergency shelter and supportive services and promotes self-sufficiency, home ownership, neighborhood revitalization and economic development. The current project value is $24M for the shell and core, and tenant improvements could increase that amount significantly. Designed by Jon Graves Architects and Planners, the business center is intended to be a LEED-certified building...
